Since 2001, TROUBLE has been carrying out the work of reading, analysis and production of various points of view on art by publishing texts written by artists, art critics and theoreticians. By purposefully keeping its distance from the immediate scene, the magazine favours subjective and experimental approaches, theoretical and formal positions, and writings dealing with critical work that does not just concern itself with commentary but also with speculation and the act of proposals. Critical writing is also a format to play with, experiment with, and to produce meaning as well as form. Contemporary art is as much a subject of study as a means of access towards the real, toward cultural, economic, and social phenomena. Such a positioning has a political stance but without being bound by it. The work of TROUBLE also involves republishing older or forgotten texts, translating texts previously unpublished in French to make their authors better known, expanding the horizons of thinking, and increasing heterogeneous approaches.

Today, publishing is a form of action and proposal in the contemporary art field. After six issues published between 2001 and 2006, TROUBLE starts again with a new collection of catalogues of fictive shows. Co-published by exhibition places, the publication is for free, aimed at the audiences of our partners. Each catalogue presents an exhibition curated by the editorial board, each gathers both already existing artworks and commissioned works as well as commissioned texts. By nature, these exhibitions are hypothesis with multiple scenarios. This new format begins with a series of three catalogues, all set up around different relations between fiction and art.

PRÉDICTIONS
Many artists found the whole of their work on the basis of a fiction which appears either in sub text or as an integral part of their works. Prédictions treats this very special use of the relation with fiction as a generator of works.
